What NetPeek finds
A NetPeek scan lists every responding host on your subnet with its IP address, MAC address, hardware vendor and hostname. Unknown devices — those with no vendor and no hostname — are flagged so you can investigate. That is the device that is not yours, the one you did not authorize, the one worth a closer look.
The standard scan covers IP subnet scanning — enter any CIDR, such as 192.168.1.0/24, or leave it blank for your local subnet. WiFi scanning shows the wireless networks available to you. Ping checks any IP to see if it responds. DNS lookup resolves any type of DNS record. UDP port scanning checks standard ports or one specific port on a device — 27 common ports in one click. And results can be exported to CSV, openable in any spreadsheet.
Offline vendor lookup is bundled — MAC addresses are mapped to manufacturers from a local database, so the vendor lookup works with no internet connection.
Why no admin rights matters
NetPeek does not need admin rights. It fills the OS ARP table with a parallel ping sweep, then reads that table — no raw sockets, no Nmap, no root. That means you can run it on a machine where you do not have administrator privileges, which is often the case on a customer’s site or a corporate workstation.
