Everyone has heard of Skype but have you heard of Skype for business?
Skype for business is a business version of the Microsoft products that used to be called Microsoft Communicator and Microsoft Lync. It is an instant messaging service for business. It allows you to communicate with colleagues, suppliers and customers through instant messages.
There are two levels, standard and enterprise. You get access to both of these and you will get at least standard as part of your Cloud package for each of your users. It links nicely to your email account and can be used from anywhere with an internet connection to keep in touch and can also be accessed from the Outlook Web App.
The enterprise version also allows for voice and video meetings.
As it connects to your email account it can access your contacts making it easy to use with people you already know and add people you have just met.
It uses the SIP protocol to make VoIP calls and so is reliable and can be used from your smart phone as well as a PC with a microphone and speakers.
